Grupo Bakkan was established in 2000, formed by members from Toni Nieto y Su Orquesta with the desire to give salsa music a new flavor (adding a twist of sounds from the Caribbean, South and Central America). BAKKAN was chosen as the name of the band after several trips to Cali, Colombia, where the word is used to describe a good mood (to feel good) or when is time to party. Composed of musicians from Peru, Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia, USA and Puerto Rico, all residing in San Francisco Bay Area, Grupo Bakkan has fans across the US and Europe. They have recorded two CD’s and recently released two singles, Me Quieres Olvidar and their latest, Lo Dejaria Todo.
