Kat Parra Latin World Ensemble

Kat Parra has leapt beyond the boundaries of the typical Latin jazz singer. By exploring world rhythms and tonalities, she has developed a style of music that both encompasses and transcends the stereotypical definition of Latin jazz. Utilizing the rich and varied flavors of Latin America, the Middle East, and Spain, Kat has created an engaging and unique repertoire with exciting new arrangements sung in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Ladino (Judeo-Espanyol). With this multi-lingual experience drawn from a variety of global traditions, Kat Parra is able to take her audiences on a vibrant journey through World and Latin music. Her ensemble includes Murray Low, piano; Masaru Koga, woodwinds; Chris Lopes, bass; Dan Foltz, drums; and Katja Cooper, percussion. Her Summer Fest performance will also serve as a CD release event celebrating her latest effort, Las Aventuras de Pasión.
