Founded in the East Bay in 2004 by Ivan Camblor, the eclectic group Pellejo Seco has its roots in traditional Cuban music but performs only original compositions. The group produces a creative sound, which combines the exquisite, the popular and the fantastic.
In its evolution, Pellejo Seco has created its own distinct flavor which intertwines progressive Fusion Rock, Latin pop, Brazilian, Flamenco, Afro-Cuban and Jazz. Camblor's name for the band, Pellejo Seco, can be translated to mean "Raw Hide." But for Camblor the name has many meanings, one of which is to describe the dry and leathered skin of a campesino or farmer.
Ivan Camblor is a composer from Havana, Cuba. In his homeland, Ivan played the tres (three string Cuban guitar) with traditional Cuban bands, many of which were performing his original songs. Other accomplishments for Ivan include a collaboration with Edesio Alejandro on two scores for the film Hacerse el Sueco. Enganchate (meaning "Grab On") is the first CD for Pellejo Seco and is comprised completely of Camblor's compositions.
