Doug Beavers' Titanes del Trombón carry the Afro-Cuban, Afro-Carribean and “Nuyorican” traditions by performing a gritty, swinging variety of salsa that is at once spontaneous and tightly executed, always leaving room for improvised and heart-pounding riffs that drive audiences to their feet. Their brand of energetic salsa is woven together in the fabric of Doug Beavers’ lushly arranged and orchestrated compositions and arrangements.

These “potent sounds of Conjunto Rovira” (Jesse “Chuy” Varela, Latin Beat) have drawn wide critical acclaim, earning them an interview with the globally-distributed magazine Latin Beat and headlining status at various venues.  Doug Beavers' Titanes del Trombón recently headlined the 7th Annual San Francisco International Salsa Congress and were called on for a featured engagement at Yoshi’s San Francisco in 2008.

Doug Beavers, an Eddie Palmieri La Perfecta II alumnus and Grammy winner for his work on Palmieri’s 2006 release Listen Here, handles the work of steering the group's trail blazing arrangements and compositions. His first studio production, Jazz, Baby! (2007, Origin Records), was dedicated to young fans of Jazz and Big Band swing and has received extensive radio airplay in the US, in addition to being reviewed by a wealth of jazz and children’s publications.

Meanwhile, Beavers has given clinics and master classes at many various institutions including Fresno State University, the Jazzschool in Berkeley and the University of Washington. He is an adjunct Professor of Music at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, CA and has recently joined the music faculty as Professor of Jazz Trombone at California State University, East Bay.

“Beavers is only 31 - a mere infant in jazz speak -but he’s already accomplished more than some jazz musicians do during entire careers.”
